In these unique works, Gavin Turk adds a kaleidoscopic twist to his Revolving Love editions, overlaying them with shimmering patterns drawn by hand. The highly pigmented marker pen draws on his interest in challenging approaches to art authorship, adding new layered meaning to a previous edition. Such spontaneous mark-making also evokes his idea of doodling as “a process of drawing that consciously tried to escape recognition, while still drawing a line or mark that looked ‘right’ or corrected another.” The psychedelic patterning is similarly labyrinthine, directing and redirecting our attention as vivid colour forms new shapes.
